(Woodbury, MN – April 26, 2016) Keith E. Hauge, Chairman of the Board of Ideal Credit Union, was recently named Outstanding Credit Union Volunteer of the Year by the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN). The award honors the noble service of one outstanding volunteer who best exemplifies the credit union spirit through dedication to, and belief in, the credit union movement.

Hauge has been an active credit union volunteer for more than 35 years. He has been on the Board of Directors since 1981. He served as Vice Chairman of the Board in 1997 and again in 2013. He has also served as Chairman of the Asset & Liability committee and a member of the Policy and Technology committees. Hauge was elected Chairman of the Board in 2014 and also heads the Executive/Investment Committee. As part of his duties as Board Chairman, he is “ex officio” on all committee meetings.

“Keith participates in credit union planning sessions and has supported many of the progressive changes that have taken place at Ideal, including the recent name change and construction of tech-savvy branches in Inver Grove Heights and Stillwater, scheduled for 2016,” said Ideal CU President/CEO Brian Sherrick. “Keith is a proven leader who is not afraid to tackle issues large and small to ensure the continued growth and success of our credit union.”

Hauge is a regular volunteer at credit union sponsored events, including the annual 5-day Community Appreciation event, MN Brain Tumor 5K, Woodbury Days, various parades and more. He enjoys engaging others in conversation to learn their stories and suggest ways the credit union can be of service.

Hauge attends chapter, MnCUN, CUNA (Credit Union National Association) and NACUC events and conferences to stay on top of changes and trends in the credit union industry. He is also a frequent participant in Hike the Hill, GAC and Credit Union Day at the Capitol activities to lobby for credit union-friendly legislation and policy issues and relief from burdensome regulations. Hauge is knowledgeable and respected by his peers and policymakers alike.
